How Many Channels Can You Create in MAX: Public and Private Channel Limits
A complete guide to current MAX channel limits: how many public channels you can create with Digital ID, through MAX for Business and A+, how many private channels are allowed, and how existing public channels affect the five-channel limit.
There is no single “MAX channels per account” limit. The number depends on the channel type and creation route. A user with Digital ID can create up to 5 standard public channels under the normal route, a legal entity or sole proprietor can create up to 10 business channels, a self-employed business profile gets 1, A+ channels are tied to the number of eligible external A+ resources, and private channels are unlimited.
The key detail is that 5, 10, and A+ are not simple quotas you always add together. They are rules for different creation methods.
MAX Channel Limits at a Glance
| Creation Route | Channel Type | Limit |
|---|---|---|
| Standard Digital ID route | Public channel_{username} | Up to 5 if you own no other public channels |
| Verified legal entity / sole proprietor | Public business channels | Up to 10 |
| Verified self-employed business profile | Public business channel | 1 |
| A+ resource on VK / OK / Dzen / Telegram | Public A+ | One per eligible A+ resource |
| Standard account with Russian phone number | Private | Unlimited |
The most important part is how MAX counts public channels you already own.
Why “MAX Allows Only Five Channels” Is Wrong
The five-channel rule applies to standard public channels created with Digital ID and a username in the format:
channel_{your_username}
MAX then checks how many public channels in total you already own.
That count includes:
- · Standard public
channel_{username}channels; - · A+ channels;
- · Channels created through MAX for Partners;
- · Channels created through
@business_channel_bot.
So this statement is also incomplete:
Every MAX user can own only five public channels.
Five is the threshold that determines whether you can create another standard channel_{username}.
How Many Standard Public Channels Can Digital ID Create?
If you have MAX Digital ID and own no other public channels, you can create up to 5 standard public channels.
After the fifth, the normal route will not create a sixth channel_{username}.
See Digital ID in MAX for the identity setup.
What Counts Toward the Five-Channel Threshold?
MAX counts all public channels you own when deciding whether another standard channel can be created.
This includes A+ and business channels.
Official Example: 3 A+ + 1 Business
You own:
- · 3 A+ channels;
- · 1 business channel.
Total public channels: 4.
You can create:
1 more standard channel_{username}.
Official Example: 5 Business Channels
You already own five public business channels.
You cannot add a standard channel_{username}.
But this does not mean a legal entity or sole proprietor loses access to its separate business allowance of up to ten business channels. It means the standard Digital ID route is blocked by the five-public-channel threshold.
Official Example: 5 A+ Channels
Five A+ channels also block a new standard channel_{username}.
However, another A+ MAX channel may still be created when you have another separate eligible A+ resource and complete the official A+ flow.
Official Example: 4 A+ + 1 Business
4 + 1 = 5 public channels
No new standard channel_{username} is available.
These scenarios are explicitly listed in MAX's official channel FAQ.
Can You Have More Than Five Public MAX Channels?
Yes.
Five is not a universal cap on total public channels.
More than five can exist through:
- · Verified MAX for Business creation;
- · Eligible A+ resources.
Once you already own five or more public channels, however, you cannot create an additional standard channel_{username}.
How to Create More Than Five Public Channels Officially
There are separate official routes.
MAX for Business
Available to eligible verified businesses.
A+
Available when you own eligible A+ resources on supported external platforms.
If you do not meet those requirements, there is no account setting that simply increases the standard five-channel quota.
How Many Channels Can a Legal Entity or Sole Proprietor Create?
A verified legal entity or sole proprietor on MAX for Partners can create up to 10 public business channels.
Creation uses:
@business_channel_bot
MAX automatically generates the username using the business template.
The first channel:
idTAXID_biz
Later channels:
idTAXID_biz2
idTAXID_biz3
...
idTAXID_biz10
The business chooses the channel display name.
Does 10 Mean a Business Can Never Own More Than 10 Public Channels?
No.
The 10-channel limit applies to channels created through that verified legal-entity / sole-proprietor business profile.
It is not presented as a universal ceiling across every other MAX public-channel route.
A+ channels, for example, use a separate resource-based rule.
The accurate wording is:
A legal entity or sole proprietor can create up to 10 public channels through the business-profile route.
How Many Channels Can a Self-Employed User Create?
A verified self-employed profile on MAX for Partners can create 1 public business channel.
Its username uses the business template:
se(orgid)_biz
where orgid is the profile identifier.
That one-business-channel rule does not automatically ban other independent MAX channel routes when the owner separately qualifies for them.
See MAX for Business for profile requirements.
How Many A+ Channels Can You Create?
MAX allows one corresponding public channel for each eligible A+ resource you own on:
- · VK;
- · Odnoklassniki;
- · Dzen;
- · Telegram.
If you own three separate eligible A+ resources, each can go through its own MAX channel-creation process.
Are A+ Channels Truly Unlimited?
“Unlimited” needs context.
MAX does not provide a button to create an arbitrary number of A+ channels.
The effective rule is:
available A+ MAX channels = eligible A+ resources you own
So:
- · 1 A+ resource → 1 corresponding MAX channel;
- · 4 A+ resources → up to 4;
- · 20 A+ resources → up to 20, if each independently meets the conditions.
Each source resource uses a separate process.
See A+ in MAX.
Do A+ Channels Count Toward the Five?
Yes — when MAX checks whether you can create a standard channel_{username}.
Example:
You own 4 A+ channels.
You can create only:
1 additional standard public channel.
After that, the total is five.
This does not remove the separate A+ route for another eligible A+ resource.
Do Business Channels Count Toward the Five?
Yes — again, for the standard channel_{username} route.
Example:
2 A+ + 2 business channels = 4 public channels.
You can create:
1 standard public channel.
If you already own six business channels, no standard channel_{username} can be created, but an eligible legal entity / sole proprietor may still continue using the business route until its business limit is reached.
Can You Add the Limits as 5 + 10 + A+?
Not as simple arithmetic.
You cannot safely say:
I have Digital ID, a sole-proprietor profile, and 3 A+ resources, therefore my limit is 5 + 10 + 3 = 18.
Why:
- · The standard five depends on the total public channels you already own;
- · The business ten applies to that business route;
- · A+ depends on separate eligible external resources;
- · Once your total public ownership reaches five, standard
channel_{username}creation is no longer available even if you did not separately create five standard channels.
These limits are eligibility rules, not independent channel packages that always add up.
How Many Private MAX Channels Can You Create?
MAX says the number of private channels is unlimited.
You can use separate private channels for:
- · Different projects;
- · Employees;
- · Customers;
- · Branches;
- · Paid communities;
- · Restricted content.
There is no official 5-, 10-, or 100-channel private quota.
Who Can Create Private MAX Channels Right Now?
Current official documentation says private-channel creation is available to MAX accounts registered with a Russian phone number.
Private channel creation does not require:
- · Digital ID;
- · A+;
- · MAX for Partners verification.
Do Businesses Have a Smaller Private-Channel Limit?
No separate smaller private limit is documented.
Even if a business profile has:
- · 10 public business channels;
- · Or one public self-employed business channel;
private channels remain governed by the separate unlimited rule.
Do Private Channels Count Toward the Public Five?
No.
The five-channel check concerns public channels already owned when creating a standard channel_{username}.
Private channels do not reduce that availability.
You could have:
30 private channels + 0 public channels
and still retain the standard public capacity when the other requirements are met.
Can You Have Five Public Channels Plus Unlimited Private Channels?
Yes, assuming you meet the creation requirements for both.
For example:
- · 5 standard public channels;
- · 20 private channels.
The private count itself does not block public creation.
Can You Create a Public Channel Without Digital ID?
Yes, through two official routes.
Verified MAX for Business Profile
For eligible legal entities, sole proprietors, and self-employed profiles.
A+ Resource
For eligible A+ resources on VK, Odnoklassniki, Dzen, or Telegram.
Digital ID is required for the standard channel_{username} route.
Can You Create a Private Channel Without Digital ID?
Yes.
Digital ID is not required for private channels.
Current rules instead require a MAX account registered to a Russian phone number.
How Many Channels Can One Phone Number Create?
MAX does not describe the system as one universal:
N channels per phone number.
It counts channels owned by the profile and applies different creation rules.
The relevant factors are:
- · Digital ID;
- · Verified business profile;
- · Business profile type;
- · A+ resources;
- · Existing public-channel ownership;
- · Public vs private type.
Phone-number matching also matters in A+ and business verification workflows.
Why Can't I Create a Sixth Standard Public Channel?
Most likely, you already own five public channels.
They do not need to be the same type.
For example:
2 standard + 2 A+ + 1 business = 5
That already blocks another standard channel_{username}.
Check every public channel you own.
How to Free a Slot Under the Five-Channel Rule
MAX lists three options.
Transfer Ownership
Once ownership is validly transferred, the channel no longer belongs to your profile for the count.
Make a Public Channel Private
This removes it from the public count.
However, the public username is released and someone else may claim it.
See how to change a MAX channel from private to public and back.
Delete the Channel
Use this only when you no longer need the audience, archive, or identity.
Can You Create a Sixth Channel After Making One of Five Private?
Yes, under the official count logic.
Before:
5 public
After one becomes private:
4 public + 1 private
There is again room for one standard public channel_{username}, assuming all other requirements are met.
The tradeoff is that the privatized channel's old public username is released.
Does Private-to-Public Conversion Use the Same Limit?
Yes.
When converting an existing private channel to public through the normal settings route, the owner must have fewer than five public channels.
A private channel does not “reserve” a future public slot.
If you already own five public channels, you must reduce the public count first or use another official route for which you separately qualify.
How Many Public Channels Can You Create on iPhone?
The numeric limit itself is not different on iPhone.
However, current MAX Help says standard public-channel creation is not directly available in the native iOS app. You can use the MAX web version instead.
This is an interface limitation, not a separate channel quota.
How to Create the Maximum Number of Standard Public Channels
If you currently own no public channels:
- Create Digital ID.
- Use Android, desktop, or web.
- Create the first
channel_{username}. - Repeat until you own five public channels.
If you already own A+ or business channels, they reduce the remaining space in the standard five-channel threshold.
Example:
2 A+ + 1 business = 3 public
Remaining standard capacity:
5 − 3 = 2
How to Calculate Your Remaining Standard Public Capacity
Use:
remaining standard channel_ capacity = 5 − all public channels you currently own
If the result is zero or negative, standard creation is unavailable.
| Public Channels Already Owned | Standard channel_ You Can Add |
|---|---|
| 0 | 5 |
| 1 | 4 |
| 2 | 3 |
| 3 | 2 |
| 4 | 1 |
| 5 | 0 |
| 8 | 0 |
This table does not replace the separate eligibility rules for A+ or business channels.
Which Route Makes Sense if You Need Many Channels?
Normal Creator / User
For up to five standard open projects, use Digital ID and standard public channels.
Company or Sole Proprietor
For multiple business channels, use a verified MAX for Partners profile with its up-to-10 business allowance.
Self-Employed Profile
The business route provides one public business channel. Other qualifying routes are evaluated separately.
Media Network With A+ Resources
Use the A+ route separately for each eligible registered resource.
Many Internal or Closed Channels
Private channels have no numeric limit.
One Channel or Several?
A higher limit does not mean you should fill it.
One strong channel is often more useful than five empty ones.
Separate channels when there is a real difference in:
- · Topic;
- · Brand;
- · Region;
- · Language;
- · Audience;
- · Access level;
- · Company department.
Do not create another channel only because a slot is available.
When Should Topics Be Split Into Separate Channels?
A separate channel makes sense when the audiences are meaningfully different.
For example:
Main brand + job openings
may work better as separate channels.
But:
Brand news + practical tips + case studies
can often live in one channel.
Too much fragmentation makes every channel harder to maintain and grow.
Common Limit-Counting Mistakes
Assuming Everyone Gets 5 Standard + 10 Business
No. The standard five depends on all public channels already owned.
Ignoring A+ Channels
A+ channels count when MAX checks standard channel_{username} availability.
Ignoring Business Channels
They count in that same public ownership check.
Counting Private Channels
Private channels do not reduce the standard public limit.
Treating A+ as an Infinite Button
Each A+ MAX channel requires a separate eligible A+ source resource.
Treating 10 as the Total Limit for Every Business
Ten is the limit for channels created through the corresponding business profile route.
What to Do When MAX Says the Limit Is Reached
Check:
- How many public channels the profile owns.
- Whether some are A+.
- Whether some are business channels.
- Whether you still own an old unused public channel.
- Whether ownership can be transferred.
- Whether one channel can become private.
- Whether an obsolete channel can be deleted.
For a business channel, separately check the verified profile's own limit.
For A+, check the number and status of source resources.

The Main Point
To answer “how many channels can I create in MAX?”, identify the creation route first.
Standard public channel with Digital ID:
up to 5 if you own no other public channels; existing A+ and business channels count toward the five-public-channel threshold for another channel_{username}.
Verified legal entity / sole proprietor:
up to 10 public business channels through that profile.
Verified self-employed profile:
1 public business channel through that profile.
A+:
one corresponding public MAX channel per eligible A+ resource on supported platforms.
Private:
unlimited.
So the claim “MAX allows only five channels” is incorrect. Five is only one specific public-channel rule.
If you need the creation steps, see how to create a MAX channel. If the limit is blocking a private-to-public conversion, see how to change a MAX channel type.
Frequently Asked Questions
How many channels can you create in MAX?
There is no single number. The standard Digital ID route allows up to five public channels when you own no other public channels; legal entities/sole proprietors can create up to 10 business channels, self-employed profiles get one business channel, A+ channels depend on eligible source resources, and private channels are unlimited.
Can you create more than five MAX channels?
Yes. Five applies to the standard channel_{username} public route and depends on all public channels you already own. Business and A+ routes have their own eligibility rules.
How many standard public channels can Digital ID create?
Up to five if you own no other public channels. A+ and business channels you already own count toward the threshold for creating another standard channel_{username}.
Do A+ channels count toward the five-channel limit?
Yes, when MAX checks whether you can create another standard public channel_{username}. Four A+ channels, for example, leave room for only one standard public channel.
Do business channels count toward the five-channel limit?
Yes. Five business channels block another standard channel_{username}. A legal entity or sole proprietor may still use the separate business route up to its own 10-channel business limit.
How many MAX channels can a legal entity or sole proprietor create?
A verified legal entity or sole proprietor can create up to 10 public business channels through MAX for Partners.
How many MAX channels can a self-employed business profile create?
The verified self-employed business route provides one public business channel. Other official routes are evaluated separately when the user qualifies for them.
How many A+ MAX channels can you create?
One for each eligible A+ resource you own on VK, Odnoklassniki, Dzen, or Telegram. Each source resource uses its own creation process.
Are A+ MAX channels truly unlimited?
There is no fixed five- or ten-channel A+ quota, but the number is limited by the eligible A+ resources you actually own. A+ does not allow arbitrary channel creation without source resources.
How many private MAX channels can you create?
MAX says the number of private channels is unlimited.
Do you need Digital ID for a private MAX channel?
No. Digital ID is not required for private channels. Current MAX rules require the account to be registered with a Russian phone number.
Do private channels count toward the five public channels?
No. The standard threshold counts public channels you own, not private channels.
How can I free a slot for another standard public channel?
MAX recommends transferring ownership of a public channel, making one private, or deleting an unnecessary channel. Reducing public ownership can reopen standard channel_{username} creation.
Can I make a private channel public if I already own five public channels?
Not through the standard Digital ID settings route, which requires fewer than five public channels. Reduce the public count first or use another official route if you independently qualify for it.
Can you create a public MAX channel without Digital ID?
Yes. A verified MAX for Business profile and the A+ resource route can create public channels without relying on the standard Digital ID channel_{username} route.
Why won't MAX let me create a sixth channel?
If you are creating a standard public channel_{username}, check all public channels you own. A+ and business channels also count when MAX applies the five-public-channel threshold.
